The short answer

What is the best logging bot for Discord?

The best Discord logging bot depends on what else you need from it. Quark is built only for logging: it records 102 types of event and keeps a copy of deleted images and files. Dyno, Carl-bot, MEE6 and ProBot are general-purpose bots with a logging module, which suits a server that wants one bot for everything. Check how far back each can log a deleted message, because the limits differ a lot.

Key facts

  • Quark logs the content of a deleted message up to 12 hours old, or up to 4 weeks old on Quark Pro.
  • Dyno's documentation says it caches the last 10 messages per channel, or 100 with premium.
  • Carl-bot's documentation says it logs an edit or delete only for a message sent within the last hour.
  • YAGPDB's documentation says it is not a logging bot. Its message logs are web pages, not a channel feed.
  • Logger, which was in 300,000 servers, shut down in April 2024.
  • Quark is used in 112,000+ Discord servers.

The comparison

The same questions, asked of every bot.

How far back can it log a deleted message, does it keep the file, and where do the logs go. The answers are from each bot's own documentation.

How to choose

Three things decide it.

Most servers already run one of these bots. The question is whether its logs are enough, or whether logging should be a bot's whole job.

How far back it remembers

A bot can only log a deleted message it still remembers. If your logs show deletes with no text, this limit is the reason. Ten messages, an hour and twelve hours are very different bots.

Whether it keeps the file

The message that needs moderating is often an image. Check whether the log holds the file itself, a link that stops working, or nothing.

What else you need from it

Dyno, Carl-bot, MEE6 and ProBot do automod, roles and levels too. If their logs are enough, one bot is simpler. If not, keep yours and add a logging bot next to it.

“We normally used other types of bots, but most of them would frequently go offline or stop logging some messages. Quark was recommended to me as being reliable and more detailed when it comes to logs.”

Discord logging bots FAQ

Quark, Dyno, Carl-bot, MEE6 and ProBot all list a deleted-message log. What differs is how old the message can be. A bot can only log what it still remembers: Dyno's documentation gives the last 10 messages per channel, Carl-bot's gives messages sent within the last hour, and Quark keeps 12 hours on the free plan and 4 weeks on Quark Pro.

Quark keeps a copy of the image or file and posts it with the log. Dyno's documentation says it does not log the file or embed content of a deleted message, and YAGPDB's says it records the attachment's URL. The other bots' documentation does not say either way, so test it in your own server before relying on it.

Not always. If your moderation bot's log module already shows you what you need, one bot is simpler. A dedicated logging bot is worth adding when deleted messages go missing from your logs, when you need the deleted files as well as the text, or when you want to search your logs later.

Yes. Bots do not interfere with each other's logs. Most servers that add Quark keep their general-purpose bot for automod and custom commands, and turn off that bot's logging so each event is only posted once.

No. Logger's website says the bot shut down in April 2024 and that its stored data was wiped. Its code is public on GitHub for people who want to host their own copy. Bots called Logger on bot lists today are other people's copies, not the original.

Every statement about another bot comes from that bot's own documentation, website or pricing page, read on 6 October 2026 and linked under the table. Where the documentation says nothing, the table says so instead of guessing. Quark makes this page, so follow the links and check anything that matters to you.

Yes. The free plan includes every log type, a channel for each category of log, ignore rules and the live web viewer, and it keeps the content of deleted messages that are up to 12 hours old. Quark Pro extends that to 4 weeks and adds 30 days of searchable log history on the web, CSV export, and the moderator behind server mutes and deafens.
