The short answer

What is a Quark log format?

A Quark log format is a set of changes to how Quark's logs look in a Discord server. It can switch the layout to compact or plain text, change the colour and wording, hide or spoiler details, add lines and link buttons, and on Quark Pro rewrite a whole log as a template. It never changes which logs are sent or where.

Key facts

  • Quark's own formats include Standard, Compact, Basic without icons, Detailed and JSON.
  • Quark's own formats, Basic, Detailed and JSON included, are free. Posting logs in one you made needs a plan.
  • Pro Lite posts logs in a format you made and changes 10 logs one by one. Quark Pro changes every log.
  • Advanced templates, with tokens, filters and conditions, are a Quark Pro feature.
  • A format can be shared as a quark.bot/f/ link, and is previewed on a log before it is added.
  • Quark is used in 113,000+ Discord servers.

Quark's own formats

One log, read your way.

Every Quark log can be posted any of these ways, on every plan. Pick one for the whole server, and with Pro Lite or Quark Pro, a different one for each log type.

Standard

Quark's own embed, with a colour for each kind of log. Every server starts on this.

Standard (no embed)

The same information as a plain message. For channels where embeds are switched off or hard to read.

Compact

A small embed with one or two lines for each log. For busy channels you scan more than you read.

Compact (no embed)

One or two lines of plain text for each log, and no buttons.

Basic

Standard without Quark's icons: the same words, nothing drawn beside them.

Basic (no embed)

Standard (no embed) without Quark's icons, for the plainest channel.

Detailed

Standard with every extra detail a log has: IDs, account ages, when a message was sent and the exact time.

JSON

Each log as JSON in a code block, for another bot to read. People will find it hard going.

Build your own

Make the logs look like your server.

Start from one of Quark's formats and change what you want. Every change is drawn on a log as you make it, and you can check it on every log type.

Colour and layout

One colour for every log, or one for each. Switch any log between an embed, compact and plain text.

Your own wording

Replace a log's title and footer, and add up to 4 lines under it, with tokens like the member's name or the channel.

Hide or spoiler a part

Take a field, the files or the thumbnail out of a log, or put it behind a spoiler for the channels where that matters.

Extra details

Add the message ID, when the message was sent, a member's ID or account age, and the exact time.

Your own buttons

Choose and order the buttons under a log, and add up to 5 link buttons of your own, to your rules or your case notes.

All logs, or one

Make a change to every log at once, or to one log type on its own. A server can keep up to 25 formats for each bot.

Advanced templates · Quark Pro

Write the log you want to read.

Advanced turns one log into a template. It starts from the log as it is, every part Quark writes as a token, and posts exactly the fields you list.

Share a format

Made one you like? Send the link.

Every format has a quark.bot/f/ link. Whoever opens it gets a copy of their own.

Seen before it is added

Before anything is added, the format is shown on a log, with which logs it changes and where its link buttons lead.

Nothing switches by itself

An added format is a copy you can change, and your logs stay as they are until you choose Use this format.

Plans

Four formats free.

Quark's own formats are free. Any server can build, share and add its own and see them on every log; posting logs in one needs Pro Lite or Quark Pro.

On Pro Lite, changes made to all logs at once apply to every log and do not count towards the 10. When a plan ends nothing is deleted: logs it no longer runs are parked, and come back with the plan.

Discord log formats FAQ

Quark's own formats are free on every server: Standard, Compact, Basic, Detailed, JSON and the no-embed kinds. Building, duplicating, sharing and adding your own formats is free too, and so is seeing them on every log. To post logs in a format you made, Pro Lite changes up to 10 logs one by one; Quark Pro changes every log and adds Advanced templates.

The layout (embed, compact or plain text), the colour, the title and footer, up to 4 added lines, and the buttons under a log, including up to 5 link buttons of your own. It can hide or spoiler parts of a log, such as a field or the files, and add details like the message ID or when it was sent.

Yes. A format has changes for all logs at once and changes for each log on its own. With Pro Lite or Quark Pro, a log type can also be given a format of its own under Individual Log Config, so modlogs can stay as they are while message logs go compact.

With Quark Pro, the Advanced switch turns one log into a template. It starts from what the log looks like now, with each part Quark writes as a token, like {{target.name}} or {{reason}}. Filters such as time and default, and {{#if}} conditions, decide what the log says.

Every format has a share link: quark.bot/f/, the format's name and 8 random characters. Whoever opens it sees the format on a log, which logs it changes and where its link buttons lead, then gets their own copy. Their logs only switch over when they choose Use this format.

Yes. The JSON format posts each log as one JSON object in a code block, with the same keys every time: the log type, who did it and to whom with their IDs, the channel, the message, the reason and the log's fields. A version number says which shape it is, and text too long for one message is cut and marked as truncated.

Nothing is deleted. Logs the plan no longer runs are parked: they look the way every log in the format does, and their own changes come back with the plan. On a free server the format is kept as it was and logs go back to Standard.

Yes. The free plan includes every log type, a channel for each category of log, ignore rules and the live web viewer, and it keeps the content of deleted messages that are up to 12 hours old. Quark Pro extends that to 4 weeks and adds 30 days of searchable log history on the web, CSV export, and the moderator behind server mutes and deafens.
